I knew that Ginger was once engaged to Howard Hughes, but I did not know this:

In 1940, industrialist Howard Hughes purchased the land surrounding the famous sign to build a home for his future bride Ginger Rogers. Unfortunately, the relationship between Hughes and Rogers ended, and Hughes never built the intended home. He held onto the land, which has remained the pristine, protected Cahuenga Peak since then.
